Event - Gender & Climate: The Role of Trade Unions

WO=MEN* is the Dutch gender platform. Around 60 organizations and 125 professionals are linked to WO=MEN: development and peace organizations, women's and gender rights organizations, diaspora organizations, trade unions, police, journalists, knowledge institutes, academics, social entrepreneurs, students and opinion-makers.*WO=MEN - women equals men

Climate change and social inequality are deeply connected, with women—especially those in vulnerable jobs—often facing the greatest risks.

In the lead-up to the climate negotiations in Bonn (SB62), WO=MEN Dutch Gender Platform and the Federation of Dutch Trade Unions (Mondiaal FNV) are hosting a session on gender equality and climate action in trade unions' work.&nbsp;We will hear from Jyoti Macwan, General Secretary of the Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA), which represents women workers in the informal economy in India. With over 3.2 million members and more than 50 years of impact, SEWA’s work showcases the powerful link between gender, labor rights, and climate justice. Charlotte Vollaard, Policy Advisory “Just Transition” at Mondiaal FNV, will share how gender equality is embedded in FNV’s approach to the climate negotiations.
