Biografie

Australian progressive metalcore/post-hardcore quintet based in Melbourne, since 2016. “Formed just shy of two years ago the Thornhill story centres around Ethan McCann (guitar) and Jacob Charlton (vocals). The boys met in math class where they bonded over a mutual love of Architects and Northlane. While the rest of the class learned about Pythagoras Theorem, McCann and Charlton sat at the back of the class, writing songs and whispering screams into an iPad that eventually became their debut album 13. After the majority of the band – rounded out by Ben Maida (drums), Nick Sjogren (bass) and Matt Van Duppen (guitar) – graduated from high school, Thornhill released 13 and played their first show with Hellions. As a collective, they were only three months old at the time, but they grew rapidly from there, playing shows with the likes of Void of Vision and their bucket list bands Northlane and Architects, and will soon share a stage with In Hearts Wake and Parkway Drive. Heading back into the studio to recorded a new single “Limbo”, Thornhill found themselves with some time to kill after Charlton was struck down with a bout of the infamous Melbourne Thunderstorm Asthma. The result of that was “Temperer”, an accidental success that found its way on triple j rotation as well as landed the band Unearthed Feature Artist in November 2017. February 2018 will see Thornhill set Butterfly free into the world.”
