-1 Encounters: Through Sounds with Angelina Nonaj

In the research project Through Sounds, Nieuwe Instituut researcher Federica Notari explores how and where people listen to music. Through various collaborations, the project focuses on physical spaces in which people experience music together, from concert halls and raves to on the street, as well as virtual spaces involving the exchange of CDs, MP3s and links to streaming platforms. As music circulates via file sharing and streaming services, the boundaries between online and offline are increasingly blurring, creating a new, hybrid reality – a remixed space.

-1 Encounters is a programme series by -1 Digital Lab, the Nieuwe Instituut’s experimental laboratory and research studio for digital culture on floor -1 (the basement). Taking place at the intersection of digital culture, noise and sound, these encounters alternate between immersive listening experiences, live performances and conversations.
