Writing high qualitative scientific articles is the basis for successfully pursuing a professional (academic) career. Although Scientific English writing is an integral part of academic or professional life, many scientists and students are unsure about what is considered "good scientific writing", or how the writing and publication process can best be managed.


The Scientific Writing and Publishing Workshop can help you with getting a more clear and better knowledge of scientific writing and publishing.

How to start? How do I construct a clear and logical story?

Tutor: dr. Roland J.W. Meesters (Editor Journal of Applied Bioanalysis).

- Primary target audience: (junior) researchers, MSc and Ph.D. students from natural and life sciences who wish to write articles for peer-reviewed journals more effectively and efficiently.

- Participation
To participate in this workshop, you need a reasonable knowledge of English (at least a solid B1 level) and especially a good ability to communicate quite fluently in English.
Maximum 20 participants. Enrollment occurs on a first come-first serve principle; full = full.

- Course Materials
All course materials are included in the workshop fee and will be distributed prior to the first session. The course materials include ring view binder with slide handouts, writing material (pen and block note).

- Workshop Fee
The regular workshop fee is 149,00 €* - Early bird registration (until Augustus 1, 2017) 129,00 €*.
The fee covers the admission to the event and participation in the workshop, the documentation concerning the workshops, coffee breaks and lunch. Advanced payment of the full fixed fee is required. The full fixed fee is due regardless of the time the attendee spends at the workshop and the workshop fee cannot be reduced. The registration can be considered completed and valid only after the receipt of the fee payment.

- Workshop Venue
The workshop will be held at the Rolduc Abbey in the city of Kerkrade in the South of the Netherlands, in the vicinity of the Dutch-German border. Rolduc Abbey in Kerkrade is one of the most important religious monuments in the Netherlands. Rolduc is the largest abbey complex in the Benelux and one of the Dutch UNESCO Top 100 monuments.The abbey’s rich history dates back more than 900 years.
The Rolduc Abbey can be reached by public transportation and car. Free parking is available during the duration of the workshop.
