🌱 About the workshop“I Don’t Know How to Draw a Tree” - Emotional illustration &amp; poetry workshopWhen did we learn to represent trees in a certain way? And what does this say about our relationship to the world?The workshop is a proposal to explore together how we draw, deconstructing academic canons of control and violence. We will re-construct together under the trees through exercises of connection, from different feminist queer perspectives focusing on the emotional rather than only the rational. The intention is to look for collective diverse ways to come together humans and non-humans, to learn to observe, share feelings and take care of each other. The workshop is connected to the book of poetry and illustration with the same titled published by Rotopol in March 2025. 🌱 About the artist: Carmen José (she/they) is an illustrator, educator and organizer. She holds a Master Fine Arts at the KH Kassel (Germany) in Visual Communication with focus on Illustration and Editorial Design. In 2018 she moved to Rotterdam for an artist residency at Foundation BAD and NAC Foundation where she worked on “Lines of movement” a research supported by the O&amp;O grant from CBK Since 2015, she has worked as a freelance illustrator mostly for books of social practice and poetry. She works as an educator for institutions like WDKA (for 5 years) and as an organizer for different initiatives she co-founded like the Rotterdam Illustration Festival(2025). She is part of the trans inclusive anti-colonial collective Feministras Rotterdam. Note: If you can not afford the lowest price tier, there are community tickets available.
