On behalf of the teams of KPN Liaison, we welcome you again to our 23rd KPN Scaleup Afternoon.

The event will be hosted on the 2nd of June 2022, during the Upstream Festival in Rotterdam on the third day of the festival - Growth Day.

During this week, the Rotterdam Metropolitan area will transform into the place where startups, scale-ups, investors, bold corporates, policy makers and students come together to make a positive impact in the world.

Speed dating information

We will start the event with a plenary opening by the City of Rotterdam, Up!Festival and KPN. Of course, we'll try our best to make it an interesting and informative session.

After this, you'll get the opportunity to speed date with KPN, and with other well-known corporates, and investors. Startups & scaleups can indicate with which of the companies they would like to speed date during the ticketing process (Please be aware that we do our best to take your preference into account, but we have limited speed date spots and a selection has to be made).

The following 1) KPN departments 2) corporates and 3) investors will be present:

1) KPN (for startups & scaleups looking for cooperation’s with-, or investments from KPN):

• KPN Ventures: aims to build value-creating partnerships with innovative European technology companies, accelerating innovation and growth by providing access to capital, industry expertise, technical infrastructure, professional network and channels to customers. Focus on early growth-stage investments (series A/B) in European high growth companies with a minimum recurring revenue of 0.5M; looking for investments (industries = IoT, Connected Home, Digital Health, Cyber Security, Networking Technology, Data & Analytics, Cloud Computing);

• KPN Liaison Management: looking for win-win partnerships with scaleups who offer solutions to challenges that KPN is looking answers for, such as 5G solutions, telco network optimization tools, call center solutions, and more; looking for cooperation, POC’s, fresh point of view (industry = all industries);

• The following departments will be available for speeddating as well: Data & Analytics, IoT, Innovation & Partnerships, Online, Cyber Security, Retail, Sustainability, 5G, SME, Wholesale, KPN Business Market, Fiber Sales, Marketing, Media Experience, Digital, B2B Integration Management and Partnermanagement.

2) Corporates (for startups & scaleups looking for cooperation’s, Proof of Concepts, or sharing knowledge).

• Aexus: focuses on business development outsourcing for innovative international tech solutions; looking for cooperation, POC’s, sharing knowledge and a fresh point of view (industries = IoT, Health, Cyber Security, AI, AR, 5G).

• ANWB: ANWB’s primary focus is on companies with a B2C or B2B2C focus, that favour new and/or disruptive solutions with a compelling service offering and strategic relevance to the priorities (Home, Energy, Wellbeing) as well as ANWB’s core propositions. We partner – and selectively make minority investments - with scaling companies that have proven traction and can clearly show the market opportunity.

• Yes!Delft: interested in startups that tackle problems within healthcare and education, and solutions based on AI and Blockchain technology; looking for POC’s, (sharing) knowledge, and a fresh point of view (industries = AI, Blockchain, Healthcare, SocialTech).

• EY: Accounting and Tax firm who supports fast growing companies with accounting and tax related issues. Looking for fast growing companies who want to professionalize their company; looking for cooperation and/or (sharing) knowledge (all industries).

• Elisa Telecom: looking for win-win partnerships with scaleups who offer solutions to challenges that Elisa is looking answers for, such as cyber security elderly solutions, telco network optimization tools, tracking solutions, 5G and more; looking for cooperation, POC’s, fresh point of view (industry = all industries).

• Microsoft: interested in Dutch companies providing SaaS applications for either a cooperation, to share knowledge or to get a fresh point of view.

• City of Rotterdam (Gemeente Rotterdam) - Circularity: the circularity team is looking for circular solutions related to upcycling waste streams. Companies that stimulate the circular transition and the transformation of existing companies and their waste streams. We are looking for cooperation with startups and scaleups; proof of concept, possibility to do pilots and experiments, fresh point of view and/or (sharing) knowledge.

• City of Rotterdam (Gemeente Rotterdam) - Smart City: the smart city team is looking for companies that can add value to the cent-r proposition, which is about their lamppost. Visit their website how you can add value to that https://www.cent-r.com/

• City of Rotterdam (Gemeente Rotterdam) - Digital: the digital team is looking for new companies that can help with innovations in Rotterdam; looking for cooperation, proof of concept, fresh point of view and/or (sharing) knowledge (industries: IoT, Big Data and Security).

Enterprise Solutions: interested in deep tech companies to start a cooperation, share knowledge or make an investment. Stage of the company does not matter.

• Rockstart: Rockstart has an accelerator programme for scale ups in health, energy, emerging tech and agrifood by offering, network, knowledge access to market and capital.

• Erasmus University Rotterdam: looking for companies wanting to collaborate with academia in terms of research, sponsoring, guest lectures, etc. We're interested in various industries.

• METIP: looking for cooperation, sharing knowledge, or a fresh point of view in the marine, maritime and offshore industries.

• Connekt: is a great mobility expert center in Delft. They can help you with expertise and network in Mobility.

• Rabobank: is looking for scaleups with software or services to grow a better world (agri, food and sustainability) and on montages.

• Albert Heijn: looking for innovative retail and large scale companies to share knowledge, get a fresh point of view or start a Proof of Concept. Industries: connected store and connectivity, shelf availability, sensors and product packing. Image recognition, (IoT) and new paying methods in the customer journey.

• ING: companies who can mean something for the financial sector. Industries: technological enablers (data analytics, AI, blockchain), value space (trade, lending, financial health for consumers, housing, safe & compliant), strategy (sustainability, customer experience and personalisation). More than 10 FTE. Early stage, growth or maturity. Slight preference for European/Dutch companies. Cooperation or PoC.

• The Jheronimus Academy of Data Science: is looking for startups and scaleups that are on to data sciences. Our students can work with your data set in providing results and initiatives by challenged based learning. This way we can provide an interesting view on your data, which can result in relevant and concrete ideas and actions. Thus, do you have data sets available for us or do you have places for our students to do an internship? Connect with us.

• Signify: looking for companies who can mean something in the field of lighting; all kinds of sensors, smart city, offices, cameras, AI, IoT connectivity, sensors in the field (horticulture, agriculture), metaverse, AR, VR.

• TNO: TNO focuses on AI enabling startups and AI in the broad sense. For sustainability of the chemical industry TNO is looking for biobased raw materials, recycling of old plastics to create new plastics, process electrification and Carbon capture & utilization.

• TBI: TBI is a contractor that is looking for start-ups/scale-ups in clean tech, the energy transition, circular building and manufacturing technology (manufacturing parts of the building in the factory for example). Not interested in smart city or road construction. They are interested in companies of all stages, except for seed. A Dutch company is preferred, but an European company is fine too. They are looking for cooperation, proof of concept and/or investment.

• Holcim: Holcim is a producer of concrete and cement is looking for opportunities in reducing CO2 emissions. One of the ways is by analyzing and using lots of unused data from the construction site, leading to possible interesting outcomes and optimalizations. Besides, Holcim is interested in everything that is happening on the construction site (eg sensors and solutions that make processes more efficient).

3) Investors (for startups & scaleups looking for investments).

• ABN AMRO: financial institution focusing on matching companies to informal investors; solely looking for investment opportunities (industries = Dutch companies, with scalable businesses; capital needed up to 2 million).

• Eneco Ventures: invests in startups and scaleups in the growth phase throughout North-Western Europe that accelerate the energy transition; looking for investments (industry = IoT).

• Volta Ventures: invests in Benelux-based early-stage software companies; looking for a fresh point of view and investments (industries = enterprise software, SaaS, cyber security, data, AI/ML, B2B companies).

• TIIN Capital: investor for cybersecurity startups; solely looking for investment opportunities. Interested in seed, early stage and growth companies.

• Match-Maker Ventures: they are looking to further scale scaleups with paying customers in telco and banking industries.

• Health Innovations: invests in startups with a digital health proposition; looking for investments, sharing knowledge & broadening their network (industries = health).

• ICOS Capital: is looking for product/service providing B2B startups and scaleups in food and chemical area. They are looking for solutions for to reduce carbon footprint and accelerate sustainability. This can be in agro-food (for example alternative raw materials for plantbased food usage), in sustainable chemistry (for example bio-based chemicals such as biosurfactants for cleaning products), circular economy (for example, recycling and the use of side streams to make primary products) and carbon tech (carbon capture, hydrogen usage, energy and storage). Icos is also investing in companies with innovative tools for industry digitization, for example in IoT or AI, for example for predictive maintenance.

• INTERBEN: specialized in M&A and consulting. Looking for investment or a fresh point of view in early stage startups.

• Investor Match: looking for an investment or fresh point of view in the following industries: tech, IT, lifescience and sustainability/impact. Preferably inhouse tech development, Dutch companies, in need of funding.
