<h1><a href="https://www.4tu.nl/bouw/Events/DigitalizationEvents/ResearchDay/#Files" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"></a></h1><h1>About this event</h1>The affordability of computing power and the advancements in Building Information Modelling (BIM), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Robotics and Construction Tech have created a paradigm shift in the design, engineering, construction and operation of the built environment. In addition, the richness and availability of data create the perfect conditions to enhance performance, sustainability and efficiency. Digitalising the built environment enables, among others, improving (design) decision-making and building performance; analysis of urban dynamics; prediction of energy use; fault detection and diagnosis in system operation; building energy management; holistic building design; linking and exploring datasets, additive manufacturing, etc. Ultimately, all these efforts serve the same purposes - decarbonising, improving performance, indoor environmental quality, occupant comfort and well-being, safety, cost-efficiency, and productivity. At the same time, reducing resource use, operational costs and risks are equally important targets. State-of-the-art approaches and technologies can also help establish best practices, help humans better identify and understand construction delays and bottlenecks, and predict progress and construction costs more accurately. Various digital means can also help identify the fluid criteria of desirable real estate, and identify and track patterns of traffic, space utilisation and occupant behaviour. Undoubtedly, digitalisation is a &quot;key enabler&quot; in all aspects of the built environment!The 4TU/14UAS knowledge institutes come together at their annual event that highlights state-of the-art research and implementation results related to the broader area of digitalisation in the built environment.NB! The event will be hosted on location and online participation is not possible. <h1>For whom</h1>If you are an educator, researcher, student, etc. at one of the 4TU/14UAS or another partnering Dutch institution, then please consider submitting your work before the 7th of March 2023 or join us to get an overview of our 4TU and 14UAS activities. This is a national event aiming to showcase the work of PhD researchers, EngD students, MSc and BSc students from the 4TU/14 UAS institutions. The purpose is to enable informal communication between Dutch researchers and educators on the topic of digitalization in the built environment. Dedicated PhD, EngD, and MSc/BSc tracks and sessions are scheduled.<h1>Submission </h1>You can submit an extended abstract by the 7th of March 2023. Possible themes include, but are not limited to:<ul><li>Data modelling, management and visualization</li><li>Building Information Management and City Information Management</li><li>Analyses and simulations for the planning and design of buildings, urban spaces and infrastructure</li><li>Generative design and optimization in design and execution</li><li>Digital Twins and Artificial Intelligence in the built environment</li><li>Combining model-driven (BIM) and data-driven (ML, AI) design methods</li><li>Structural health monitoring of buildings and infrastructure</li><li>Smart buildings and infrastructure</li><li>Industrialization &amp; smart manufacturing systems</li><li>Robots and ‘cobots’ on the building site</li><li>VR/AR/MR/xR for design and life cycle management </li></ul>We invite technical contributions and organizational and management research on digitalisation in Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operations. Contributions can be submitted using EasyChair using the available template. A special track will be dedicated to showcasing student work.
