ScopeAutomated vehicles (AVs) are considered one of the major technological developments in the automotive industry, able to enhance future mobility, by improving safety, environmental impact and accessibility. The ability to engage in non-driving tasks is considered by consumers one of the key reasons for AVs adoption leading to the requirement of higher comfort. However, AVs motion is expected to provoke motion sickness (MS) especially when users take their eyes off the road. These challenges need to be overcome before AVs become part of our daily life.Volkswagen Group Innovation and TU Delft are inviting fellows from academia and industry to participate in this workshop. The event is in parallel and in close proximity to the Tomorrow Mobility World Congress (TMWC) (<a href="https://www.tomorrowmobility.com/" title="https://www.tomorrowmobility.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.tomorrowmobility.com/</a>). The workshop aims to align research and development on motion comfort in automated driving focusing on:<ul><li>Experimental evaluation and detection of perceived comfort, including motion sickness,</li><li>Theories and models predicting comfort,</li><li>Mitigation strategies to enhance comfort and user acceptance in AVs.</li></ul> Registrational Information and Submission InformationWe invite colleagues to register for online/in-person participations and inform about the intention to physically present through the registration form. Participants interested in presenting must send an abstract before the September 6th. Abstracts should be a maximum of 150 words and should be sent to the following email address: <a href="mailto:motioncomfortautomateddriving@gmail.com" title="mailto:motioncomfortautomateddriving@gmail.com" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">motioncomfortautomateddriving@gmail.com</a>. The chairs will then reach out by the September 22nd regarding more details. The workshop will consist of presentations, poster sessions and discussion rounds. Proceedings will not be published, but the organizers are planning to set up a special issue in a journal for collective publications around motion comfort. This will depend on the presenters’ stated interest. Presentations can only be physical, but the workshop can be followed also online through a link provided after registration. There is no registration fee for the workshop. After confirmation of your registration, the registered members for physical attendance will be provided also a visitors pass for TMWC Mobility. A 25% discount will be offered for upgrading the TMWC visitor pass to full congress.
