Life of Plants Public Programme

VU ART SCIENCE gallery and ASI will bring artists and researchers together in a new series of ART SCIENCE dialogues. The dialogues form part of the public program of the exhibition Life of Plants, which focuses on our relationship with plants.

On the occasion of the current exhibition ‘Life of Plants’ in VU’s Art Science Gallery, we invite you to join us on a ‘Walk in the Park’: a visit to the Botanic garden Zuidas with Karen Verduijn, which is located just around the corner from VU campus. Karen Verduijn is part of the the <a href="https://vu.nl/en/news/2024/kick-off-explore-the-vu-ecopedagogy-reading-club" title="https://vu.nl/en/news/2024/kick-off-explore-the-vu-ecopedagogy-reading-club" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">VU Ecopedagogy Reading Club</a>.We connect this visit to the Botanic garden in particular to the installations Forecast by artist Oscar Santillán. Ours, as is Santillán’s, is an attempt at including non-humans in considering the complex exploitations of our planet, the walk being an attempt at recoupling ‘man’ with nature.As the Botanic garden houses a wide variety of exotic plants from all over the world, it is a highly suited place to do so, and to further explore colonial botany.Starting at the VU ART SCIENCE gallery, we will first get a short guided tour of the Gallery, after which we will walk to the Botanic garden. Then upon returning to the Gallery there will be a short activity. Eventbrite registration is not required to attend; even if the event is full, we encourage you to join us in person
