The A1 Dutch course is designed for beginner learners of the language. Classes offer a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, following Una Paloma Blanca’s Fun, Fast, and Efficient method.
Schedule
In the A1 Dutch course, you’ll receive a total of 10 lessons of 1.5 hours each. Classes take place twice a week at the same time and day for 5 weeks at Una Paloma Blanca in Rotterdam. Each group consists of 3 to 6 students. The price for the group course is €345 per person, plus the study book (€45).
Methodology
The course develops all four language skills—reading, writing, listening, and speaking—with a special emphasis on speaking. We use a speak-up approach, encouraging students to communicate actively while sitting together around the table and exploring the language as a group. Classes are taught in English and Dutch by native Dutch teachers.
Curriculum
In this course, you will learn:
- Basic verbs and conjugations
- Common words and expressions
- Basic nouns and adjectives
- Numbers
- How to introduce yourself in Dutch
- Sentence formation in the present tense
- Simple everyday dialogues
Book
During the course, teachers follow the textbook Let’s Get Dutch! 1. Purchase of the book is mandatory (€45). It contains 12 chapters, and the teacher will cover 6 of them during the A1 course. You will receive your book at the school during your first lesson.
Language Level
If you’re unsure about your level, we recommend taking our free Language Level Test before enrolling.
By the end of this course, you will be halfway toward achieving the A1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). To complete the full A1 level, you can continue with the A1+ course.
Test and Certificate
There is no final test at the end of the course. You will receive a certificate of participation if you attend at least 70% of the lessons.
