World Opera Lab from Amsterdam & Fragments Theatre from Jenin in a new collaboration around Palestinian heritage, water and rituals.
Artistic director and artist Rawand Arqawi from Jenin will come to Amsterdam for a residency, collaborating with an incredible collective of Palestinian and Dutch female artists; stage-director Miranda Lakerveld, visual artist Mary-Ann Jaraysi, writer and performer Rasha Hilwi, anthropologist Ritta Al Asadi, singer Sabra Al Bahri Khatri, Arabist Sylva van Rosse and percussionist Wendy Palomeque.
The laboratory takes place from 26 September till 2 October, in proud collaboration with A Beautiful mess in Amsterdam. During this period there are four public events where the artists share their findings with the audience:
- Sunday 28th of September: an open studio and conversation about cultural survival
- Tuesday 30th of September: an open studio and conversation about cultural heritage and mental health
- Wednesday 1st of October: The artists aim to create a new interactive healing ritual which will be shared with the audience.
- Thursday 2nd of October: The artists aim to create a new interactive healing ritual which will be shared with the audience.
