Nieuwe Instituut is het nationale museum voor architectuur, design en digitale cultuur. Nieuwe Instituut houdt zich bezig met de grote ontwikkelingen in de maatschappij, zoals de krapte op de woningmarkt, de energietransitie, de opkomst van kunstmatige intelligentie, mobiliteit of het gebruik van de publieke ruimte. Ontwerpers, waaronder architecten en digitale makers, kunnen aan die ontwikkelingen een belangrijke bijdrage leveren. Nieuwe Instituut toont het werk van ontwerpers, brengt mensen met elkaar in contact, verzamelt, ontwikkelt en deelt kennis.

Audio visual works about the role of activism in art and design from Transformation Design students of Willem de Kooning Academy.

Transformation Design students from the Willem de Kooning Academy present their audio-visual work as a starting point for a conversation about the role of activism in art and design. The screening will be followed by a discussion between students and audience. Artist Artúr van Balen will also join the event to share his work, knowledge and experiences. The moderator will be Jannelieke Aalstein.Second-year students from the Willem de Kooning Academy (WdKA) were asked to think about the role of activism in their artistic journey and to research social issues that are relevant from their own perspective. As part of this assignment, they developed activist audio-visual works on issues including racial inequality, sexuality and gender, online/offline identities, mental health, education, Covid-19, and the environment.Participating students: Julia Stoffer, Tessa Lemaire &amp; Annelotte Maasland, Puck Schoenmaeckers &amp; Alara Kutar, Saran Munnichs &amp; Cid Pijnenburg, Pim Harding &amp; Anaïs Clements, Tim t’ Gilde &amp; Sonja Aljaberi, Lieve Postulart &amp; Anna Mastenbroek, and Jeanine Ros &amp; Roos Oudt.
