Adi Parmer: Sunny Boy
Overview
Mad Cow Comedy presents Solos at the Shed; a series of great solo shows in the most intimate of venues! On Friday 6th February, join us for "Sunny Boy" by Adi Parmer.
About the Show:
Sunny Boy is Adi Parmar’s debut solo comedy show about growing up in India, growing older in the Netherlands, and accidentally becoming a parent along the way.
Raised in North India by a loving but deeply imperfect father struggling with addiction, Adi spent much of his life trying to be the good son — hoping that if he got things right, it might fix what was broken. Years later, as a gay man living in the Netherlands, Adi didn’t expect fatherhood to feature in his future at all… until his partner casually mentioned on their second date that he co-parents with a lesbian couple. Somehow, Adi loved the idea.
Through sharp observations and hilarious stories from his childhood in India and his current life as a brown queer parent to white Dutch kids, Sunny Boy explores family, identity, and the moment Adi realises he can’t fix his father — but he can choose the kind of father figure he wants to be.
Is fatherhood real, or is it a lie invented by Big Childhood to sell more therapy?
Either way, this show proves laughter is still the best coping mechanism.
