AI for Good: Tackling Climate Change with Artificial Intelligence
Presentation Description: AI is often portrayed in a negative light, but it can also be a force for good. In this talk, I will share how I use different AI models to address challenges linked to climate change. From improving disaster response to supporting sustainable management of environmental resources to helping plan effective climate policies, I’ll show how the models I work with can make a real difference in how we adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change.
Speaker 1: Zuzanna Osika is a PhD researcher at TU Delft. Her work focuses on how AI can be applied to tackle complex, real-world challenges. She mainly works with reinforcement learning algorithms and studies how they can be used to support decision-making problems involving many actors, competing goals, and the need for safety. She is especially interested in using AI for addressing important societal issues, from climate change to sustainable resource management.
Speaker 2. Walter Heck is a longtime entrepreneur and tech builder who’s currently deep into the world of AI. He co-founded Helixiora, where he’s working on Lorelai, a platform that makes it easier for teams to actually get value out of their data with AI. Walter has spent years juggling startups, scaling teams, and hacking together products that solve real problems, and he loves sharing the messy, practical side of making AI useful in the real world.
✨The session will conclude with an open discussion, so come with your questions.
