All Watched Over By Machines Of Loving Grace
Overview
This workshop offers a practical and reflective introduction to internet privacy and digital self-protection. At a time when everyday online actions are constantly tracked, analysed, and monetised, the session invites participants to pause and reflect on what it means to be online today - and how much control we actually have over our digital lives.
The workshop begins with a short explanatory and theoretical introduction that maps the infrastructures behind data collection, the speed at which passwords can fail, and the unnoticed habits through which personal information slips into circulation. Rather than focusing on fear, the session aims to build critical understanding of the digital environments we move through every day.
In the second part, the workshop takes a hands-on format. Participants engage directly with the tools and settings that shape their digital visibility - from password and permissions to everyday security practices.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own smartphones, as they can work directly with their personal devices. The session is designed as an interactive and supportive space, where questions, shared experiences, and discussion are welcome.
Rather than offering a complete solution, the workshop frames digital privacy as an ongoing practice - one that connects personal agency, care, and resistance within broader digital systems.
