Amsterdam Oost from Above: Lunch, Views & Local History
Join us for a relaxed rooftop lunch at this hidden gem, meet other culture loving internationals and learn some history along the way!
At Art & Culture Key, we bring internationals together to meet new people, build friendships, and enjoy meaningful experiences. While art and culture provide the inspiration for our gatherings, the real focus is on creating a welcoming community where people can connect.
We meet in hidden gems, beautiful galleries, unique restaurants, and culturally interesting venues, sharing experiences that naturally spark conversation. Whether it's an engaging talk, a meal with a fascinating story behind it, a theatre performance, or simply discovering a new place together, our events are designed to be enjoyable both for culture lovers and for those who simply enjoy good company.
This time we'd like to welcome you to one of the best kept secret roofterraces of Amsterdam: Zoku, located in Amsterdam East. This part of the city has long been a vibrant and diverse quarter. In the 17th century it was home to a significant Jewish community as well as many people of colour, whose stories are vividly captured in the works of masters such as Rembrandt van Rijn and Gerard Dou. While enjoying the lunch and company, art historian Mariska Beekenkamp-Wladimiroff will explore how these artists depicted the people around them and what their paintings reveal about life in this extraordinary part of the city.
