An Evening with Bobby Kolade (BUZIGAHILL)

Nieuwe Instituut and State of Fashion together welcome Ugandan designer Bobby Kolade, of the Kapala-based clothing brand BUZIGAHILL, for a discussion that ranges from fashion and the second-hand clothing supply chain to waste colonialism and its impact on the local environment.

This programme is organised in collaboration with State of Fashion as part of the State of Fashion Biennale 2024: Ties That Bind. This event, curated by Rachel Dedman and Louise Bennets, brings together creative practices in fashion, textiles and contemporary art from across the Global South. Ties That Bind explores the complexities of tradition, the political power of clothing and alternative approaches to exploitative fashion systems.

Bobby Kolade’s Bobby Kolade’s latest collection will be part of the main exhibition during Ties That Bind, which will take place in Arnhem from 15 May to 30 June 2024.
