Nieuwe Instituut is het nationale museum voor architectuur, design en digitale cultuur. Nieuwe Instituut houdt zich bezig met de grote ontwikkelingen in de maatschappij, zoals de krapte op de woningmarkt, de energietransitie, de opkomst van kunstmatige intelligentie, mobiliteit of het gebruik van de publieke ruimte. Ontwerpers, waaronder architecten en digitale makers, kunnen aan die ontwikkelingen een belangrijke bijdrage leveren. Nieuwe Instituut toont het werk van ontwerpers, brengt mensen met elkaar in contact, verzamelt, ontwikkelt en deelt kennis.

An Evening With

An Evening With is a monthly talk series featuring emerging and established international voices in design, architecture and digital culture.

5–7.30pm: Thursday Bite (€ 8,88)Every Thursday, from 5pm, you can enjoy a tasty Thursday Bite for € 8,88 at Het Nieuwe Café. The Thursday Bite is a light vegetarian or vegan meal from the kitchen of chef Manuela Gonçalves Tavares. You can order your bite at the bar on the evening itself.7–8pm: Thursday Night Detour (Free, max 12 participants) Every Thursday night a Detour Guide takes you on a free Detour through one of the exhibitions on display at Het Nieuwe Instituut. Discover design, digital culture and architecture from the perspective of your guide. Every Detour is different: you might end up working on a joint choreography or designing a space for insects.No registration needed. In order to participate, gather at the reception desk at 6.55pm and inform staff that you would like to join.7-9pm: Collecting Otherwise: Time-based Interventions in the Archive (Free)We explore artistic interventions with film, projections and other manifestations of the moving image, together with Paoletta Holst and Paolo Patelli on behalf of the Resequencing the Tillema Collection project. They will be joined by Working Group Hannah Dawn Henderson presenting her newest film on the Collection&#x27;s depot and archive. The conversation welcomes as respondent the curator Astrid Korporaal. This event is coupled with an exhibition in the Research Centre around Sourcebook, a film by Mandy El-Sayegh and Helena Hunter, curated by Renan Laruan.8–9.30pm: In conversation with Irma Boom: Book Manifest (Free)Irma Boom visits Het Nieuwe Instituut on the occassion of her new publication Irma Boom: Book Manifest. Boom, who is described by Eye Magazine as &quot;the queen of books&quot; has created over 500 books and will, aside from presenting her newest work, go into conversation with Team Thursday, a young graphic design studio based in Rotterdam consisting out of Simone Trum and Loes van Esch. Together they discuss the design process, the book as an object and the value of archiving your work. 9–11pm: Music by DJ Hugo Out (Drinks &amp; dance, Free)To close off the evening DJ <a href="https://www.mixcloud.com/hugo-out/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Hugo Out </a>will play in Het Nieuwe Café, located on the ground floor of Het Nieuwe Instituut. Combining new-school electronic styles with old-school sounds is what defines Hugo Out&#x27;s sets. Preferably using vinyl only, he transforms multiple genres into coherent sets that aims at comforting and educating people with new sounds. He also collaborates with others under his label A Project By Principle.No registration needed.

<h3>Thursday Night Live!</h3><a href="https://thursdaynight.hetnieuweinstituut.nl" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Thursday Night Live!</a> is a weekly evening devoted to burning questions in architecture, design and digital culture, featuring leading speakers from home and abroad. Het Nieuwe Café serves a meal, there’s music from DJs or live performers, the museum is open for free and our Detour Guides (aka tour guides) show you around the exhibitions.
