An evening with Research Nights and ReShaping Architecture

Nieuwe Instituut is het nationale museum voor architectuur, design en digitale cultuur. Nieuwe Instituut houdt zich bezig met de grote ontwikkelingen in de maatschappij, zoals de krapte op de woningmarkt, de energietransitie, de opkomst van kunstmatige intelligentie, mobiliteit of het gebruik van de publieke ruimte. Ontwerpers, waaronder architecten en digitale makers, kunnen aan die ontwikkelingen een belangrijke bijdrage leveren. Nieuwe Instituut toont het werk van ontwerpers, brengt mensen met elkaar in contact, verzamelt, ontwikkelt en deelt kennis.

5–7.30pm: Thursday Bite (€ 10)Every Thursday, from 5pm, you can enjoy a tasty Thursday Bite for €10 at Het Nieuwe Café. The Thursday Bite is a light vegetarian or vegan meal from the kitchen of chef Manuela Gonçalves Tavares, plus a soft drink. No registration needed. You can order your bite at the bar on the evening itself.7–8pm: Thursday Night Detour (Free, max. 12 participants) Every Thursday night a Detour Guide takes you on a free Detour through one of the exhibitions on display at Het Nieuwe Instituut. Discover design, digital culture and architecture from the perspective of your guide. Every Detour is different: you might end up working on a joint choreography or designing a space for insects.7.30-9.00pm: ReShaping Architecture with Kokon, Bruil and Movares (Presentation, free)A symposium organised by Kokon Architectuur &amp; Stedenbouw, Bruil Prefab and advisor Movares about the development of the world&#x27;s largest 3D concrete printed project, located in Den Helder. Together they discuss the development of this unique design and the design possibilities that this innovative technique brings to the construction industry.Note: this programme component is in Dutch7.30–9.30pm: Research Nights: Threads of Commonality with Sabrina Miller (Discussion, € 7,50/€ 3,75)In the first edition of Research Nights, the Research team of Het Nieuwe Instituut invites artist <a href="https://www.instagram.com/half__sister/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Half Sister</a> (Sabrina Miller) who will share Ways of Listening: a prelude, a project about Black music as a source of knowledge and a portal of transformation and healing. This work considers the power of storytelling through music and sound as sites and sources of knowledge and emboldens their potential as containers for collective therapy. Note: only up to 30 participants can join this programme component9–11pm: DJ set by Dey.Rey (DJ, Dance and Drinks, Free)End the evening in Het Nieuwe Café, located on the ground floor of Het Nieuwe Instituut, with music by DJ <a href="https://www.instagram.com/dey.rey/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Dey.Rey</a>. No registration needed.

<h3>Thursday Night Live!</h3><a href="https://thursdaynight.hetnieuweinstituut.nl" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Thursday Night Live! </a>is a weekly evening devoted to burning questions in architecture, design and digital culture, featuring leading speakers from home and abroad. Het Nieuwe Café serves a meal, there’s music from DJs or live performers, the museum is open for free and our Detour Guides (aka tour guides) show you around the exhibitions.
