Nieuwe Instituut is het nationale museum voor architectuur, design en digitale cultuur. Nieuwe Instituut houdt zich bezig met de grote ontwikkelingen in de maatschappij, zoals de krapte op de woningmarkt, de energietransitie, de opkomst van kunstmatige intelligentie, mobiliteit of het gebruik van de publieke ruimte. Ontwerpers, waaronder architecten en digitale makers, kunnen aan die ontwikkelingen een belangrijke bijdrage leveren. Nieuwe Instituut toont het werk van ontwerpers, brengt mensen met elkaar in contact, verzamelt, ontwikkelt en deelt kennis.

5–7.30pm: Thursday Bite (€ 8,88)Het Nieuwe Café offers a Thursday Bite every Thursday evening from 5pm: a light vegetarian meal, including a soft drink, from the kitchen of chef Manuela Gonçalves Tavares. You can order the Thursday Bite for € 8,88 at the bar on the evening itself.6.30–7.30pm: De Gids: To be a plant, an animal, the sea (Lecture/Performance, Free)Can we understand rivers, pigs, trees, fungi or cormorants? How could we care about what they have to say? And how do us people, despite our numerous disabilities, once again become a non-disturbing part of the Earth? In collaboration with Het Nieuwe Instituut, literary magazine De Gids explores how human and non-human entities can live harmoniously through the Zoöp programme. With Klaas Kuitenbrouwer, Dirk van Weelden, Mariken Heitman and Kirsten van Santen. With a soundscape by Peter Sijbenga.This event is in Dutch7–8pm: Thursday Night Detour (Exhibition tour, free, max. 12 participants)Every Thursday evening, one of the Detour Guides (formerly known as tour guides) takes you on a free Detour through one of the exhibitions in Het Nieuwe Instituut. Experience design, digital culture and architecture from your guide&#x27;s perspective. For example, one Detour ends in a joint choreography and you design for insects in another.8–9.30pm: Jaap Bakema Study Centre: Georg Vrachliotis (Lecture, € 7,50/ € 3,75)Georg Vrachliotis gives a keynote lecture on the role of open data in design and social change, drawing inspiration from the Bouwcentrum Rotterdam, initially founded as a statistical office documenting war damage in the city of Rotterdam in 1948.9.30–11pm: DJ set by Peter Barker (Music, Dance and Drinks, Free)Close off this season of Thursday Night Live! with music by DJ Peter Barker, live in Het Nieuwe Café. No registration needed to join this programme component.This programme component is part of the Jaap Bakema Study Centre Conference (JBSC).

<h3>Thursday Night Live!</h3>Thursday Night Live! is a weekly evening devoted to burning questions in architecture, design and digital culture, featuring leading speakers from home and abroad. Het Nieuwe Café serves a meal, there’s music from DJs or live perfomers, the museum is open for free and our Detour Guides (aka tour guides) show you around the exhibitions.
