Nieuwe Instituut is het nationale museum voor architectuur, design en digitale cultuur. Nieuwe Instituut houdt zich bezig met de grote ontwikkelingen in de maatschappij, zoals de krapte op de woningmarkt, de energietransitie, de opkomst van kunstmatige intelligentie, mobiliteit of het gebruik van de publieke ruimte. Ontwerpers, waaronder architecten en digitale makers, kunnen aan die ontwikkelingen een belangrijke bijdrage leveren. Nieuwe Instituut toont het werk van ontwerpers, brengt mensen met elkaar in contact, verzamelt, ontwikkelt en deelt kennis.

5–7.30pm: Thursday Bite (€ 8,88)Every Thursday, from 5pm, you can enjoy a tasty Thursday Bite for € 8,88 at Het Nieuwe Café. The Thursday Bite is a light vegetarian or vegan meal from the kitchen of chef Manuela Gonçalves Tavares. You can order your bite at the bar on the evening itself.7–8pm: Thursday Night Detour (Free, max 12 participants) Every Thursday night a Detour Guide takes you on a free Detour through one of the exhibitions on display at Het Nieuwe Instituut. Discover design, digital culture and architecture from the perspective of your guide. Every Detour is different: you might end up working on a joint choreography or designing a space for insects.5.30-7.30: Open Archive 2022 (Free)Join us for the festive opening of the third edition of Open Archive with work by Daria Kiseleva, Alice Wong &amp; Simo Tse, and Remco Torenbosch. Together with the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision and the International Institute for Social History, Het Nieuwe Instituut organises this program mefor artists. They look for new stories in open, digital heritage collections, resulting in a new media work.8–10pm: Vertical Atlas Book Launch &amp; Exhibition Opening (Free)Celebrate the book launch of Vertical Atlas with lectures by Nanjala Nyabola, Benjamin H. Bratton and a performance by Francois Knoetze. This event also marks the opening of the exhibition with work by Geocinema, Francois Knoetze, Emo De Medeiros, Andrej Škufca, Suzanne Treister, and Qiu Zhijie. A joint research initiative by Hivos and Het Nieuwe Instituut, Vertical Atlas is a unique compendium of maps, artworks and essays that help to navigate the worldwide digital transformation and its complex effects at different locations around the world. <h3>Thursday Night Live!</h3><a href="https://thursdaynight.hetnieuweinstituut.nl" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Thursday Night Live! </a>is a weekly evening devoted to burning questions in architecture, design and digital culture, featuring leading speakers from home and abroad. Het Nieuwe Café serves a meal, there’s music from DJs or live performers, the museum is open for free and our Detour Guides (aka tour guides) show you around the exhibitions.
