About this event

Looking for a way to take action for farmed animals? The Humane League and the Open Wing Alliance are teaming up with Open Cages throughout August for a campaign to hold Best Western Hotels accountable for their cage-free egg commitment.

The mission of The Humane League UK (THL UK) is to end the abuse of all animals raised for food and we need your help to make it happen! I volunteer for THL UK, you can find out more about their work by watching their Year in Review video here.

If you are passionate about this cause, I would love for you to join me for this public outreach event, which is all about raising awareness of Best Western Hotels' cage-free commitment.

What the event will involve:

We will meet outside Best Western at 11am on Saturday 30th August - I will provide my number once you sign up to come along, and you can call me if you get lost! Handforth Railway Station is about 13-minute walk from the location, and trains run frequently from Manchester Piccadilly.

When everyone arrives, I will introduce myself and tell you a bit more about THL UK. Then we’ll start our outreach! All materials are provided, so just wear suitable clothing for the weather.

We’ll be handing out information about Best Western’s cage-free commitment and encouraging positive conversations amongst the public.

At the end, we can go grab some vegan food together if people are up for it – the Hellas Taverna on Wilmslow Road has a few vegan options.

Not only will you meet a great group of like-minded individuals, but you’ll also be directly helping to reduce animal suffering.

This event is open to anyone who believes in our mission: to end the abuse of all animals raised for food. You do not need to be a current volunteer or affiliated with THL UK in any way, everyone is welcome. You don’t have to be vegan to attend this event.

We’ve picked a site we believe to be accessible for wheelchair users but if you would like to double check your accessibility needs please contact the organiser, who will be happy to help. If you would like to discuss your needs, or any questions you have about this event, please reach out to me directly (once you’ve signed up, I will send my details).

RSVP for a "free ticket" to receive full details and let me know you’re coming.

Everyone is welcome to attend our events, regardless of their race, sex, age, religion, disability, neurodiversity, orientation, gender identity or expression.

PLEASE NOTE: By signing up to this event you agree to abide by our Safer Spaces policy at all times. We will not tolerate any forms of abuse or disrespect, and you will be asked to leave if you violate any of our event policies.

We may take photos at this event, which will be used in the promotion of our Volunteering Programme or other events. Please inform the Organiser if you wish to be removed from photos.

We can, and do, promote veganism while fighting for better standards for animals. Here's why.
