About this event
Malkit Shoshan talks about her book BLUE, followed by a conversation with Lilet Breddels and Arjen Oosterman from the magazine Volume. This book launch hopes to empower young designers as BLUE demonstrates how to engage with design activism effectively, develop policy change and influence systemic change.
This event will also be broadcasted via livestream.
Focusing on two United Nations (UN) missions in Mali and Liberia, the book BLUE charts and reveals spacial realities produced by the UN in mission areas from the beginning to the drawdown of a mission. It traces the complex processes and mechanisms behind the footprint and operations of missions, and it questions the international, financial, spacial and cultural structures society puts in place to support communities across the world in times of crisis.
Malkit Shoshan is a designer, author, and educator. She is the founding director of the Foundation for Achieving Seamless Territory (FAST), which initiates and develops projects at the intersection of architecture, urban planning and human rights. In her work, she uses spatial design tools to make visible systemic violence, engage with various publics to co-design alternatives that center social and environmental justice, and advocate for systemic change.
This event will also be broadcasted via livestream.
