Nieuwe Instituut houdt zich bezig met de grote ontwikkelingen in de maatschappij, zoals de krapte op de woningmarkt, de energietransitie, de opkomst van kunstmatige intelligentie, mobiliteit of het gebruik van de publieke ruimte. Which future scenarios are possible for the creative reuse of digital heritage collections? What challenges do creators face when working with digital heritage? And what are the future possibilities of making digital heritage accessible? During the Building a Dynamic Archive event at Het Nieuwe Instituut, Donna Verheijden previews the exhibition <a href="https://gallery3byyou.hetnieuweinstituut.nl/en/activities/building-visual-mind" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Building the Visual Mind</a>. Following a panel discussion with various experts in the heritage field, archiving, and copyright. The main focus of this event during the Thursday Night Live! will be on visual creative reinterpretations of digital heritage collections.About the exhibition Building a Visual MindIn the pop-up exhibition Building the Visual Mind, artist, designer, and filmmaker Donna Verheijden tells alternative stories based on material from the digital archive of Het Nieuwe Instituut. She creates a virtual parallel reality in which she takes visitors on a journey through the evolution of the digital collection. She uses 3D models and digitized glass negatives, sketches, blueprints, and images from the collection. Making the (speculative) relationship between archives, architecture, and technological developments tangible. With Building the Visual Mind, Donna Verheijden conducts artistic research into digital heritage by actively remixing and creatively reusing it. Verheijden has worked with glass negatives (from Pierre Cuypers, among others), drawings and blueprints of the most diverse architects, and 3D models (from offices such as MVRDV) of the collection.Building the Visual Mind is made possible in part by the Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie&#x27;s Digital Heritage x Public sub-program and started in 2019.
