Why Meo-Camuzet?
Historic Excellence: The legacy begins with Etienne Camuzet (1867-1946), mayor of Vosne-Romanée and deputy of Côte d'Or, who played a decisive role in creating France's Appellation d'Origine system in 1919. When he died in 1946, his estate passed to Jean Méo, who worked in General de Gaulle's cabinet while relying on legendary winemaker Henri Jayer as tenant farmer. Today, Jean-Nicolas Méo continues this remarkable heritage, combining traditional methods with innovative techniques learned from Jayer himself.
Legendary Vineyards: The domaine owns prime parcels in some of Burgundy's most prestigious villages, including coveted Premier Cru sites. Their meticulous vineyard management and selective harvesting ensure each wine authentically represents its specific location.
Perfect Teaching Wines: Meo-Camuzet's consistent winemaking style allows you to taste pure terroir differences without the distraction of varying techniques. It's like having the same artist paint six different landscapes - you'll clearly see how location shapes the final masterpiece.
Your Burgundy Journey: Six Wines, Three Levels
Regional Level: The Foundation
Bourgogne Côte-d'Or 2021 - Your introduction to Burgundy's signature Pinot Noir style. This blend from multiple vineyards across the Côte-d'Or showcases the region's classic characteristics without the complexity of specific village traits.
Village Level: Local Personality
Marsannay 2021 - The northernmost village of the Côte-d'Or, known for fresh, approachable Pinot Noir with bright red fruit flavors.
Fixin 2021 - A robust, structured village wine that bridges the gap between the lighter north and the more powerful villages to the south.
Gevrey-Chambertin 2021 - The powerhouse village famous for producing some of Burgundy's most age-worthy and complex wines. Rich, earthy, and aristocratic.
Chambolle-Musigny 2021 - The elegant counterpoint to Gevrey-Chambertin. Feminine, perfumed, and graceful - Burgundy's silk to Gevrey's velvet.
Premier Cru Level: Elite Expression
Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru "Les Chaumes" 2020 - The pinnacle of our tasting. This Premier Cru vineyard produces wines of extraordinary complexity and aging potential. Experience why Vosne-Romanée is considered the heart of great Burgundy.
