Claiming our Space: Making after Automation
An evening where art, architecture, and design meet - with Audrey Large, Lorena Rode, and Niki Padidar.
Is there still place for manual making in a digital world?
Images are generated in seconds, systems are built for ease, and friction is seen as something to remove. But when everything becomes faster and more automated, what changes in the way we relate to the world around us? What do we still notice, feel, and understand when we work with our hands, our materials, and the spaces we inhabit?
For one night only, Beyond Buildings takes over Gallery Van Oosterom for an intimate, limited-capacity evening that asks a question relevant to art, design, and architecture alike: what place does manual making still have in a digital world?
Multidisciplinary artists and designers Lorena Rode and Audrey Large join award-winning filmmaker and moderator Niki Padidar for a conversation, introduced by Partner Architect Albert Takashi Richters, on what it means to stay connected to process rather than simply consumption, and on how artists and designers can continue to claim space for connection and hands-on work today.
With Audrey Large’s latest exhibition FLOWSTONES and curated works by Lorena Rode on view throughout the evening, the event invites guests to move between listening, looking, and exchanging. Bringing together people from art, architecture, and the many practices in between, it offers a chance to encounter new perspectives and spend time with the work at close range.
Capacity is limited, ticket reservation is required. Late entry will not be possible.
