Future Based:Future Based veers off the beaten path to make way for an optimistic year filled with podcasts, reflections, meetups, performances, and everything in between.Familiarizing ourselves with the future grants access to a better understanding of the Now. Paradoxical as it might sound, by allowing for speculative futures and imagining alternatives, we make space for fresh notions of both ourselves and the world. On some occasions it might require a linguistic approach, a matter of reframing words by way of language philosophy; in other times it can be an exploration into the state of affairs within science; or appropriating research methodologies that are used within the arts.

Often going beyond the standard discourse, climate fiction depicts alternative scenario’s to climate change. For example, in Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer, a team of scientists explore the expanding ‘Area X’ to document its mutated flora and fauna, causing us to wonder how species will adapt to climate change. Not only confronting us with how climate change affects ecosystems, individuals and societies, cli-fi illuminates actions to tackle the overwhelming crisis.This reading session is all about the narrative strategies of cli-fi in representing the complexity of the challenges posed by the climate emergency. Examining how cli-fi depicts climate change, we discuss what role cli-fi has in shaping our perception and experience of the climate crisis. We will explore how cli-fi can help us understand how ethical and political stakes of climate change can be mediated. But feel free to whatever you feel is appropriate.Thank you for your support.Ugh, CovidPlease note, due to covid the maximum non-1.5-metre-capacity-with-seats is 15 attendees.  We absolutely want to avoid being confronted with a corona outbreak after our event. Moreover, we value your health. Therefore the following: only a self-test is not sufficient. If you have been fully vaccinated for at least 14 days and you have no complaints, show your QR code. If this is not the case we need a valid proof of test (PCR) that is not older than 24 hours applied. Yes, we know it sucks but we are super happy we can organize get-togethers again and open up to people who cannot be vaccinated because of medical issues. No, we don&#x27;t want to exclude people, so we will search for alternatives - for example as well organize 1.5 meter gatherings outdoors. If you have a question, suggestion or complaint, please do let us know. Please cancel your ticket if you have complaints that are covid related. If we need to cancel or re-schedule the event due to unforeseen measurements, we will offer an online alternative or a refund of your ticket.
