What you will learn:
Direct composite restorations are a common procedure in dentistry, but achieving optimal results can be challenging. This course will address dentists’ four main concerns when placing direct composite restorations: achieving invisible restorations, avoiding post-operative sensitivity, creating protocols required to create a perfectly fitting restoration, and working efficiently and profitably.
This course covers the art of the anterior direct composite, describing the preparation, layering, and finishing protocols required to create an invisible restoration.
The course then provides a detailed technical analysis of the process of preparing and creating a posterior composite restoration. This without or with only minimal occlusal adjustment, with firm proximal contacts while reducing the risk of postoperative sensitivity.
This course is designed to benefit dentists of all experience levels. The following topics will be covered:
- Shade selection: demystify the science and use it as a practical everyday tool.
- Translucency, opacity, and opalescence: why all composite resin is not created equal.
- Learn two different efficient methods to achieve natural-looking incisal edges and effects.
- How to quickly and inexpensively fabricate diagnostic mock-ups and palatal silicone indices to achieve precise incisal edge position and restore worn palatal surfaces.
- Simple, intuitive finishing protocols to produce highly polished restorations that mimic nature.
- How to layer composite to create lifelike incisal halos and effects such as crack lines and opacity variations.
- Prep, place, and finish Class II restorations with optimal proximal contacts and minimal occlusal adjustments.
