Between Cultures: Studying and Working Personal experiences with education systems and work cultures in the Netherlands and the world
On April 19th, we invite you to join our third Connection Café, as a collaboration between Rozet and Refugee Company at A Beautiful Mess. This edition is all about studying and working between cultures. What is different? What is surprising? And what can we learn from each other?
As always, we will start the evening with a panel discussion and Q&A, followed by a beautiful personal story connected to the theme of work and education. Then it’s time for a delicious dinner, with special dishes from different countries prepared by our community from AZC. We will end the evening with live music and more conversations.
An evening full of personal stories, new perspectives, good food, and music.
Meet the Storyteller:
Begum Nisli is a legal professional from Istanbul who moonlights as a storyteller and occasional actor. With a soft spot for human quirks, she shares personal stories that are heartfelt, relatable, and just the right amount of weird. She prefers the unpolished bits of life over the perfect ones, focusing on those slightly chaotic, everyday moments that make us human.
Meet the Band
Explosive yet intimate, Nefala weaves raw jazz-rock energy with Mediterranean traditions to create bold, genre-defying protest songs. Fragile vocal lines, dressed in jazz aesthetics and Eastern ornaments, carry sociopolitical lyrics through stories of apathy, war, and the loss of tenderness. Imagine Silvana Estrada and José González - but with a raw attitude, energetic heartbeat and Mediterranean soul, turning urgency into beauty
