Join the Early Career Committee of @EFS for an inspiring panel discussion that rethinks HIV beyond the biomedical model.

This panel discussion brings together three professionals whose work represents the medical, psychological, and community dimensions of contemporary HIV care. Through a conversational format, the event aims to illuminate how clinical knowledge, emotional and social support, and lived experience intersect in shaping the realities of people living with HIV today. The events offers a holistic point of viewe that integrates activism, physical and psychological health, and collaborative care.

Dr. Donia Gamoudi is a consultant in genitourinary medicine who specialises in sexual health, HIV, and reproductive health. Trained in Malta and the UK, she has contributed to European STI guidelines, presented at international conferences, and actively educates healthcare professionals. Her work is characterised by a strong commitment to accessible, evidence-based, and compassionate patient care. Ryan Portelli, counsellor and educator, brings extensive experience from both his private practice and the Maltese education system, where he has been working with children, adolescents, and adults with socioemotional and behavioural difficulties. His professional focus includes sexuality, sexual health, LGBTIQ+ wellbeing, and HIV-related counselling. He collaborates with HIVMALTA, Checkpoint Malta, and Rainbow Support Services, and is also trained in harm-reduction approaches for chemsex users. Jackie Roberts, a UK-born artist and HIV activist living in Gozo for over two decades. She has been living with HIV for more than 25 years. Since 2021, she has become a central figure in community-based HIV advocacy in Malta, serving as Secretary and Executive Board Member of Checkpoint Malta. She coordinates community HIV/STI testing initiatives, supports people living with HIV across Malta and Gozo, and plays a key role in anti-stigma campaigns, earning her the 2025 Pride of Gozo Beacon of Hope Award.
