The monthly Conversations  is an experimental platform for decentral ways of knowledge-creation and sharing in regard to body fashioning.

The Conversations on Decoloniality and Fashion is an online series initiated in 2021 as an experimental platform beyond institutional, disciplinary and geographical boundaries to disrupt stubbornly persistent Eurocentric underpinnings of dominant fashion.

The Conversations on Decoloniality and Fashion is a monthly series initiated by the Research Collective for Decoloniality and Fashion in February 2021. Each Conversation is organised online every first Thursday of the month from 9-10:30pm CET to accommodate as diverse a global participation as possible. The RCDF is a not-for-profit organisation registered in the Netherlands and the Conversations are organised by volunteers. Participation is based on a voluntary yearly donation of 25EUR (by bank transfer IBAN: NL39INGB0674877012/ BIC: INGBNL2A or <a href="https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=K3X9W7PJJXFF8" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">PayPal</a>).The Conversations is an experimental platform beyond institutional, disciplinary and geographical boundaries to disrupt stubbornly persistent Eurocentric underpinnings of contemporary fashion and encourage critical investigation and dialogue into an erased and denied diversity. Transcending academe, its main aim is to experiment with decentral ways of knowledge-creation and sharing in regard to fashion – through conversation, through the communal and coalitional, and through a radical act of listening across age, race, gender, education, discipline and geography. By entering into conversation, we aim to build understandings across geopolitical locations and colonial differences and contest the totalizing claims and political-epistemic violence of modernity. We seek to expand our collective understanding of decoloniality and its convergence with fashion by bringing-together-in-relation different local histories and embodied conceptions and practises of decoloniality. Each Conversation is based on a selection of materials (readings, videos, podcasts, music, etc. in different languages) and comprises a 90-minute session split into three 30-minute parts: a 30-minute conversation between the conveners and guest(s), a 30-minute breakout session of five people to enable more intimate exchange, understanding and (un)learning with each other, and a final 30-minute conversation with the whole group. They are inspired by Cricket Keating’s (2005) coalitional consciousness building, which is a feminist method of self and collective education toward coalition as a way to engender solidarity across multiple lines of difference. As an experiment in ‘radical democracy’ (Cornell 2000), the stress on the value of each person&#x27;s experience and knowledge serves to build a non-hierarchical and transformative space for thinking about and acting upon one&#x27;s own and each other&#x27;s different situations.
