About this event

  • 2 hours

Join this creative writing workshop, led by Bad Penny Publications: The fourth of a seriesof six creative writing workshops, inspired by artists and their writing methods, to be heldat the Central library throughout the year. The workshop ‘A letter writing practice’ is inspired by artists who use letter writing as apractice to produce new writing and art works. These letter writing practices can exist together, a letter exchange, or alone, a letter to nobody or to myself. In this workshop we will invite participants to write an open letter of kindness to no one or to anyone, takinginspiration from the artists whose work we will explore during a short lecture presentationat the start. The idea is to share in your letters notes of kindness, thoughts others maybenefit from, things you yourself may have liked to hear from a stranger at any point. Aftereach letter is written we will together design envelopes for each of them, and then individually distribute our letters in envelopes around the library, between the books on theshelves. Perhaps someone will find them, read them, hold them dear, or take them home.

Bad Penny Publications

Bad Penny Publications is a platform that creates zines with artists from the Hague and the wider community. We are an experimental writing and publishing platform that aims to create a new space for reflective writing - embracing tangents, conversation and notes as a constructive form of research and writing. Using methods of audio recordings of conversations, gatherings and chat as content generation for the zine: A very spontaneousway of doing research through conversational techniques. Through our curation andmaking process of the zines, writing through workshops and reciprocal exercises, we aimto create a new artistic and creative writing community.
