Cultuurhaven x Stichting Mesopotamië: Poëzie tegen Discriminatie

Op deze bijzondere middag gaan Stichting Mesopotamië en West Den Haag de samenwerking aan voor een project over poëzie tegen discriminatie. Wat kunnen we leren van elkaar, door naar elkaars poëzie te luisteren, ook al verstaan we de taal misschien niet? Dit evenement verenigt dichters uit zeven landen en vier continenten: Nederland, Irak, Syrië, Marokko, Chili, Uruguay en Peru. Samen presenteren ze een krachtig programma van poëzie, muziek en workshops, dat volledig is gewijd aan de strijd tegen raciale discriminatie. De middag wordt verder aangevuld met twee filmvertoningen. Na afloop van het programma is er gratis wat te eten. Dit evenement valt onder Cultuurhaven, het project van West dat de verbinding zoekt tussen West en de stad Den Haag. Met verscheidene projecten en evenementen onderzoekt West wat er speelt bij verschillende groepen in de stad, en wat onze instelling kan betekenen voor deze groepen. Stichting Mesopotamië bevordert interculturele dialoog en artistieke expressie door middel van film, poëzie, muziek en debat. Met festivals en workshops stimuleert de stichting maatschappelijke bewustwording, talentontwikkeling en verbinding.

On this special afternoon, Stichting Mesopotamië and West Den Haag join forces for a project on poetry against discrimination. What can we learn from one another by listening to each other’s poetry, even if we may not understand the language? This event brings together poets from seven countries and four continents: the Netherlands, Iraq, Syria, Morocco, Chile, Uruguay, and Peru. Together, they present a powerful program of poetry, music, and workshops, fully dedicated to combating racial discrimination. The afternoon also features two film screenings. After the program, there will be something to eat, free of charge. This event is part of Cultuurhaven, an initiative by West that seeks to build connections between West and the city of The Hague.
