Op de Dag van de Omaanse film laat Stichting Mesopotamië je de reikwijdte van de Omaanse cultuur zien.

De Omaanse legende Al-Banjari vertelt het verhaal van een weduwe die geconfronteerd wordt met een bovennatuurlijke kracht die voortkomt uit een ‘Banjari’ (een traditionele armband). Deze armband verleent haar vreemde krachten, maar verandert al snel in een last die zwaar op haar drukt.

Vogelparadijs is een documentaire over de belangrijkste schatten van Oman, de regio Bar Al-Hikman. Uitkijkend over de Arabische Zee en de Perzische Golf, is dit gebied een cruciaal en strategisch punt voor trekvogels van over de hele wereld.

De film Familiefoto's verbeeldt de laatste poging van een jong meisje om een versplinterde herinnering van haar familie te herstellen. Tijdens het Suikerfeest is haar familie verhuld in een vreemde stilte en een onuitgesproken distantie. Met al haar onschuld probeert ze één groepsfoto te maken, alsof ze via de lens van de camera wil lijmen wat de tijd gebroken heeft.

Het Open Paviljoen is een plek voor ontmoeting, uitwisseling en verbeelding. Van 13 juni tot en met 19 juli 2026 bieden we ruimte aan een cultureel programma met workshops, gesprekken, performances en lezingen. Lokale initiatieven, nationale stemmen en internationale denkers ontmoeten elkaar in een open setting waarin kunst niet alleen wordt getoond, maar actief onze samenleving vormt.

On the Day of Omani Film, Stichting Mesopotamië will show you the breadth and richness of Omani culture.

The Omani legend Al-Banjari tells the story of a widow confronted with a supernatural force originating from a 'Banjari' (a traditional bracelet). This bracelet grants her strange powers, but soon becomes a burden that weighs heavily upon her.

Bird Paradise is a documentary about one of Oman’s greatest natural treasures, the Bar Al-Hikman region. Overlooking the Arabian Sea and the Persian Gulf, this area is a crucial and strategic stopover point for migratory birds from all over the world.

The film Family Photos depicts a young girl’s final attempt to reconstruct a fragmented memory of her family. During Eid al-Fitr, her family is enveloped in a strange silence and unspoken distance. With all her innocence, she tries to take a single group photo, as if through the camera lens she could mend what time has broken.

The Open Paviljoen is a place for encounter, exchange, and imagination. From 13 June to 19 July 2026, it will host a cultural programme featuring workshops, conversations, performances, and lectures. Local initiatives, national voices, and international thinkers come together in an open setting where art is not only presented, but actively shapes our society.
