About this event

Whether you’re just starting out or already have some experience, this hands-on course offers a full creative immersion into techniques that ignite imagination and unlock artistic expression. Over the weekend, you'll learn essential collage and mixed media techniques while diving into your own creative process. With a blend of art history, live demonstrations, and plenty of guided studio time, you’ll develop your skills—and walk away with two finished artworks that reflect your unique artistic perspective.

🗓 Day 1 – Saturday: The Art of Collage

  • Starts at 10:00 AM
  • Inspiration: We begin with a curated PowerPoint presentation highlighting iconic collage artists throughout art history.
  • Demonstration: Watch a live demo showing how to create composite images using found materials and (optional) your own personal photos.
  • Hands-On Creation: After a short break, you'll begin your own collage, with step-by-step guidance and personal support throughout the process.
  • Lunch Break: 1:00–2:00 PM
  • Afternoon Session: Deepen your exploration, refine your ideas, and complete a finished collage artwork. We’ll end the day with a short group reflection.
  • Ends at 6:00 PM

  • Starts at 10:00 AM
  • Inspiration: We kick off with a visual presentation of mixed media artists and techniques across time.
  • Demonstration: Learn how to combine materials, textures, and media in expressive new ways.
  • Hands-On Creation: Begin designing your own mixed media piece, experimenting freely with what speaks to you.
  • Lunch Break: 1:00–2:00 PM
  • Afternoon Session: Continue building and refining your artwork with personal guidance and support. The day ends with a group reflection and time to share your work.
  • Ends at 6:00 PM

Frequently asked questions

Is this a two-day workshop?

Yes! We start on Saturday 10 January at 10 AM and work till 6 PM. On Sunday we meet again at the venue at 10 AM and we work till 6 PM.

Should I bring my own lunch?

Yes, we have a lunch break each day from 1 - 2 PM, so if you like bring your own lunch.

Should I bring any materials

No, all materials are included. But if you like you can bring your own photo's.

Purpose of the IRIS ART CENTRE is to support artists and art-students of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to gain increased self-awareness and understanding of their individual creative process, and to promote artistic growth and development of their artistic voice. This talent development is accomplished through a unique artistic coaching program. The Centre organizes art workshops in the spring-early summer and artist residencies and online art webinars the whole year through.
