About the workshops

These relaxed workshops offer an opportunity for anyone, whether new to painting or not, to be out in nature and learn some skills and experience painting natural color landscapes.

Each day the participants will meet in one of the Dutch nature locations, chosen especially to paint a typical Dutch nature landscape. During the day there will be guidance and an opportunity to see the tutor demonstrate painting a landscape from beginning to end. At the end of the workshop, we will gather to enjoy looking at the paintings and talk about them.

By the end of the course, you will be able to

• Understand the fundamentals of how to apply landscape divisions and spatial perspectives on canvas.
• Be familiar with the standard concepts in choosing a landscape frame.
• Have a clear understanding of and shape perspective in oil painting.
• How to begin and to end a nature landscape painting.
• Be familiar with the building blocks of the landscape painting process.
• Become aware of some of the challenges and advantages of landscape/spatial perspective.

Workshop format

The workshops will take place in the open air. Each day participants will meet at an agreed location and will spend the day on that location. The workshops are designed for a maximum of 10 participants. Abeer, the tutor will paint alongside the participants and go through the main building steps of the painting and other important considerations throughout the painting process. Participants will be free to choose their subject and perspective and style.

Painting Materials

Please note that you have a choice to bring your materials (brushes, oil paints, pallete, canvas) or we will order for you materials (pls see below). They will be yours to take home at the end of each day. It is important to let us know if you want to bring your materials or make use of the offer.

Practical Information

On these days we will be outdoors the whole day and we ask that you consider wearing appropriate clothing for the weather forecasted on that day. Also, you are invited to bring packed lunch and drinks with you for your nourishment. Once you have booked a place we will be sending out the location of the meeting place and any other necessary information.
