On Tuesday evening 14 July TIAS School for Business &amp; Society is happy to invite you to attend our Executive MBA lecture: Prospects for the Global Economy in the Aftermath of the COVID-19 Crisis.Presented by: <a href="https://www.tias.edu/en/about-tias/profile/joe-nellis" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Professor Joe Nellis</a>, Visiting Professor, TIASTiming: 19.30 – 21.00 hoursThe COVID-19 pandemic will have profound and far reaching implications for the global economy in the months and years ahead. Many governments have adopted unprecedented expansionary fiscal policies in their efforts to fund their over-stretched health services and to avoid a collapse in companies – to quote Milton Friedman: ‘we are all Keynesians now’. In tandem, central banks have dramatically eased monetary policy, reducing short-term interest rates to record low levels and re-igniting quantitative easing. Despite these actions the IMF has warned of a slump in global output that is ‘unparalleled since the Great Depression of the 1930s’. In this session we will explore the prospects for the global economy in the years ahead and seek to identify the consequences for the developed, emerging and less developed regions of the world.As visiting professor from Cranfield (UK), professor Nellis teaches Macro Economics at TIAS; one of the core courses in our Executive MBA curriculum (EMBA). You are kindly invited to join us for a virtual Executive MBA in-class visit.Our EMBA Academic Director, Dr Eric Dooms and our EMBA Program Manager, Ms Nina van den Hemel will be happy to answer any EMBA program related questions, after Professor Nellis’ online session.
