What is a soundwalk? Basically, it's a way to experience a place through careful, focused listening, while moving through the space. It's a great way to learn about a new place, or to experience a famliar place through an unfamiliar lens. And it's an inherently personal activity, as you become aware of your place in the soundscape around you.
Hosted by EPIC members Greg Weinstein and Michael Powell, you will walk from Amsterdam Central Train Station to Rembrandtplein, pausing to listen along the way. At the end of the sound walk, there will be a discussion about what you and your fellow walkers heard, and what it tells you about the social and built environment of central Amsterdam.
Meeting Point: Central Train Station of Amsterdam, 1pm local time on Sunday, October 9. (Look for Greg—bald, big glasses, long red beard. If the weather is nice, we'll meet outside, near the station entrance. Otherwise we'll meet in the station. But the walk happens rain or shine!)
