Program Details:

This program from The School of Self-Care focuses on going on a journey back to you. The 12 sessions will include reflection, meditating and movement, as well as learning about western and eastern philosophies. This will help you make a solid start to implement your journey of actively practicing self-care.

We believe in a community based program, in which you can find tools, and where we give you the space to reflect in order to make changes in your everyday life. We will learn why self-care is important and what comes with self-care on an emotional, physical and mental level.

We believe in global interaction and learning within a community. Sometimes, reading a self-help book can be helpful, but how do we bring them into practice?

Join our community and embark on your self-care journey back to you!

Every week holds a space for new learnings taken from both Western and Eastern philosophy. With that in mind, we reflect, move and meditate during this process in togetherness. You will take home new tools every week. The following breakdown might give you an idea of some of the subjects we will be exploring.

By participating in this program you will explore the following:

  • Learn why everyday self-care enhances your relationship with yourself
  • Join our community and embark on your self-care journey back to you!
  • Learn how to take care of yourself whilst being able to be there for others
  • Understand “you can’t pour from an empty cup”

Who is this program for: Everyone

Week 1: Trauma Stewardship and the Neuroscience of Self-Care

During the first week, we will discover what self-care is, what it does in the brain and how important self-care is when you are caring for others.

Week 2: Self-Compassion

Self-care is difficult without self-compassion. During this week, we will discover your ways of having self-compassion and finding new ones to add to your self-care practice.

Week 3: Your Window of Tolerance

Knowing what your window of tolerance is, can help to understand where your boundaries are and when someone crosses them. During week 3, you will learn more about your window of tolerance.

Week 4: Inner Tolerances and Boundaries

What do you tolerate that you wish you didn’t? Do you know when you’re tolerating something or someone, that is actually hurting you and crossing your boundaries? During this week, you will explore putting down boundaries and engaging in understanding what you have been tolerating.

Week 5: Triggers

During this week, you will learn about triggers, how they work and when they occur. You’ll learn about how triggers work, and also have the space and time to discover your own triggers. Knowing your triggers can make it easier to practice self-care, or to know what self-care you need in order to manage triggers.

Week 6: Neuroplasticity

During this week, we will look into the neuroscience of self-care a little more and we will engage in finding out new pathways for the brain.

Week 7: Reflection week

Reflection is a valid part in your self-care practice. By implementing two separate weeks where we spend time reflecting, it might become easier to practice reflection at home.

Week 8: Breath and the Nervous System

In what way does breath help your nervous system, and what has your nervous system to do with self-care? These questions will be answered during this week.

Week 9: Potentially letting go of the past

Often, when you hold on to the past, you can stay stuck in old habits. During this week you will explore potentially letting go of some part of your past. We will engage in exercises to help you to potentially let go.

Week 10: How to introduce non-violent communication into our life

Nonviolent communication becomes a valid tool when practicing self-care. Sometimes, when you understand your triggers, tolerances and boundaries, it becomes difficult to honestly and vulnerably communicate what is happening. During this week, we will practice this way of communicating.

Week 11: How can we introduce creativity into our life?

Introducing creativity into your life can make your soul speak and come into connection with your being/body. When you can introduce creativity into your self-care practice, you can even become playful and lighthearted, enjoying your creative time spent with your body and yourself. When you become creative, it can be seen as a sign of having been able to work through hardship and pain. When we play, when we are creative, we can be free.

Week 12: Reflection week

Reflection is a valid part in your self-care practice. By implementing two separate weeks where we spend time reflecting, it might become easier to practice reflection at home. During this last week, we will also look back on the 12 weeks we’ve spent exploring.

As part of our reflection exercises we will explore the creation of moodboards and preparing your self-care plan. We would like to suggest that you bring with you the following items :

  • Notebook
  • Pen
  • Coloured pencils/highlighters
  • Paper
  • Magazines

Please note:

  • Each event will open 10 minutes prior to starting to provide you with time to login and get comfortable.
  • There will be a 15 minute interval during each session.
  • Sessions will not be recorded for privacy reasons.
  • Once you have signed up for your program you will receive a Zoom link to enter our virtual self-care space.
