Talk about the architecture of Renée Gailhoustet, now on display in Casa Vertigo TU/e, with  Elise Zoetmulder

From Saturday, October 18, to November 21, the exhibition <a href="https://ddw.nl/programme/layers-of-living-renee-gailhoustets-housing" title="https://ddw.nl/programme/layers-of-living-renee-gailhoustets-housing" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Layers of Living</a> will be on display at Casa Vertigo TU/e. The exhibit presents the work of French architect Renée Gailhoustet (1929-2023), who translated her ideals into built form, creating housing complexes that unfold as lived landscapes rather than rigid structures. In her architecture, spatial qualities were never ends in and of themselves, but the conditions that made community, interaction, and individuality possible. Thursday, November 13th, 17.00-18.00, Architectuurcentrum Eindhoven and Casa Vertigo plan a special Exhibition talk about Renée Gailhoustet’s work and life.Special guest is Elise Zoetmulder, interior architect and partner of the Delft office ‘Zoetmulder’. She wrote an <a href="https://www.winhov.nl/site/assets/files/2750/office_winhov_local_heroes_rene_e_gailhoustet_elise_zoetmulder-1.pdf" title="https://www.winhov.nl/site/assets/files/2750/office_winhov_local_heroes_rene_e_gailhoustet_elise_zoetmulder-1.pdf" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">intriguing essay</a> on her work, stating: ‘Renée Gailhoustet is an unknown to many. But this needs to change: she was a pioneering architect with over 2000 homes to her credit (…), she was able to realize special social architecture and urban development projects in an activist manner, and where human connection was central.’ Zoetmulder will reflect on René Gailhoustet’s life and oeuvre, and discuss her legacy in the context of the current Dutch housing debate. The talk starts at 17.00 in the Trappenzaal Vertigo TU/e, but at 16.30 you are welcome to have a look at the exhibition, together with Elise and the curators …
