About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

In this experimental writing workshop we'll explore the power of images and media framing through writing. Inspired by the exhibition Oogenblikken (on view at the Central Library), we'll cut, collage and create with photographs and clippings from recycled newspapers and books. These "visual trails" will spark short stories that will shift and reframe while we continue writing and reimagining during the workshop.

Led by publishing duo Bad Penny Publications you'll be introduced to examples, works and practices of renowned artists who use writing in their work. Together we'll experiment with writing techniques that follow the logic of images. Expect surprising turns and playful excersises that make you write and see differently.

Bad Penny Publications

Bad Penny Publications is a platform that creates zines with artists from The Hague and the wider community. We are an experimental writing and publishing platform that aims to create a new space for reflective writing - embracing tangents, conversation and notes as a constructive form of research and writing method. Using methods of audio recordings of conversations, gatherings and chat as content generation for the zine: A very spontaneous way of doing research through conversational techniques. Through our curation and making process of the zines, writing through workshops and reciprocal exercises, we aim to create a new artistic and creative writing community.
