About this event

Arts • Literary Arts

Write your own creative story about waste and reflect on your impact on the future. Through an experimental writing exercise, you’ll transform old narratives into new visions for tomorrow.

What to expect?

In this workshop, you will use the theme of garbage and the hidden stories buried beneath our feet. Together we will explore what these remnants say about us and our shared future. You'll:

  • hypothesize your vision of the future, will it be utopian or dystopian? How will your story unfold?
  • engage in an thought-provoking freewriting exercise focused on your personal and collective impact on the world.

Why join?

This is your chance to connect creativity with critical thinking, using writing as a tool to explore big questions about sustainability, memory, and legacy. Plus, it’s a unique opportunity to participate in a dynamic workshop series designed exclusively for students.

Bad Penny publications

Bad Penny publications is an experimental platform for writing and publishing zines with artists from The Hague and beyond. They explore reflective writing through conversation, tangents and notes as forms of research. These approaches fuel their zine-making. Through workshops and collaborative exercises, they aim to build a new community for artistic and creative writing.

Exhibition Garbology

This workshop is part of the 'Garbology' project, an exhibition about waste streams and closed landfills. The exhibition can be seen from August 20 to November 12 at the Central Library on the 4th floor.
