<h3>Do you own leather garments and accessories?</h3><h3>Have you wondered how they were made and by who?</h3><h3>Are you in search of sustainable and ethical alternatives?</h3>Join Slow Fashion Movement in conversation with leading sustainable fashion experts - Emma Håkansson, Rebecca Cappelli, Besma Whayeb, Emily Stochl, Megan Doyle, Shruti Singh and Sanjana Rishi - about the impact of leather production and consumption on the planet and people. L﻿earn and question the history, production, alternatives and sustainability of leather.<h3>SPEAKER PROFILES</h3><a href="https://www.instagram.com/hakamme/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Emma Hakansson</a> is the Founding Director of Collective Fashion Justice, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to creating a total ethics fashion system which prioritises people, our fellow animals and the planet before profit.Emma is also a published author and award-winning film director with her work featured across The Guardian, Vogue Business, Forbes and other publications.<a href="https://www.instagram.com/letusbeheroes/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Rebecca Cappelli</a> is the award-winning French producer and director of the feature documentary SLAY (available on iTunes, Amazon and free on WaterBear), which exposes the ongoing use of animal skins within the fashion industry. As an animal rights activist, her work aims to create cultural change and empower people to become advocates for the animals, the planet and vulnerable communities. Rebecca also produced and directed Let Us Be Heroes (2018), an award-winning short exploring the impact of our food and lifestyle choices on our health, our planet and our values. She is also a public speaker, an educator, an animal rescuer and a photographer.<a href="https://www.instagram.com/besmacc/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Besma Whayeb</a> is the author of sustainable fashion blog Curiously Conscious and founder of the Ethical Influencers network. In 2022, she conducted a two-part deep-dive into the leather and vegan leather industries, discussing their impact on people and planet, and highlighting exciting innovations. <a href="https://www.instagram.com/emilymstochl/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Emily Stochl</a> (she/her) is the Director of Education and Community Engagement at Remake, a global fashion advocacy organisation fighting for fair pay and climate justice in the clothing industry. She aims to empower Remake's 1,500 global Ambassadors to be fierce advocates for climate and gender justice in fashion. Emily is also a writer, podcaster and educator with expertise in vintage, secondhand, and ethical fashion. She is the creator and host of the first-of-its-kind Pre-Loved Podcast, a weekly interview show about the vintage and secondhand fashion industry.<a href="https://www.instagram.com/megantldoyle/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Megan Doyle</a> is a London-based sustainable fashion journalist with bylines at Harper's Bazaar, Business of Fashion, Glossy, Refinery29, EcoCult and other publications. Megan covers topics like material innovation, garment worker rights, consumer psychology and the circular economy.<a href="https://www.instagram.com/shruti.s87/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Shruti Singh</a> is the Country Head of Fashion Revolution India, working at the intersection of education, fashion, craft, and public policy. She is also the founder of Designing Future Earth, an initiative to promote climate literacy and simplify sustainability careers.Shruti is a dedicated advocate for sustainability and transparency in the fashion industry. Some of her notable works include policy consulting for the Indian Ministry of Human Resource Development, Ministry of Textiles, social sector advisory at PwC, research for the Fashion Transparency Index 2021, authoring a policy report on 'Reimagining the Craft Economy Post-Covid 19', and co-authoring ‘Gender Equity and its Impact on Sustainability in Cotton Farming (India)’. <a href="https://www.instagram.com/sanjrishi/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Sanjana Rishi</a> is a former corporate lawyer turned influencer with a purpose. Featured across BBC, Insider, and other publications, as an ethical fashion advocate, she promotes slow fashion practices like conscious consumerism, restyling, reuse and recycling to her growing Instagram following of 119k.S﻿anjana also fiercely advocates for garment worker rights, body positivity and breaking stereotypes about motherhood amongst other feminist issues, always with a dash of humour. <h3>ABOUT KNOW YOUR LEATHER</h3>K﻿now Your Leather is the third edition of Slow Fashion Movement's annual 'Know Your...' campaign.
