Conversation on capitalism and democracy On Tuesday evening, October 14, you can share your insights during a gathering on how democracies rely on structural violence to maintain power differences, which in turn enable the exploitation of people and earth. The gathering will take the form of a conversation (in English) between Willem Schinkel and Rogier van Reekum (both Erasmus University), followed by ample time for an interactive discussion. The speakers will discuss how liberalism is intertwined with capitalism, racism, and fascism. Code of conductWe focus on policies, not on individuals, and we oppose all forms of oppression, like discrimination on political ideas, religious convictions and on the appearance of people: we reject anti-Semitism, anti-Palestinian racism, Islamophobia, homophobia, transphobia, ableism and any ideology based on supposed superiority. Accountability without borders is an anti-imperialist, anti-fascist and anti-militarist platform. The moderator will intervene upon authoritarian, racist, classist, patriarchal, colonial, or otherwise problematic statements.
