In spite of our laws, our cultural values, police, and surveillance technology, our public spaces are not safe for women. Recently, Dutch news has been full of heartbreaking stories of violence against women. Femicide, assault, rape, and murder on the streets have caught the public’s attention, and there are protests where women try to “reclaim the night.”

On the flipside, there have been calls for men to step up and take responsibility. What changes, if any, are we willing to make in our lifestyles to help make women safer at home and outside? And what does it feel like to know that others see your physical presence as a threat?

This is a current affairs lunch event with an expert and an open discussion about the news and how it affects us. Learn from Hessel from Emancipator how toxic male standards are directly related to femicide. There will be a free lunch but space is limited, so please register via Eventbrite.
