Feminist Placemaking Academy Copenhagen

Feminist Placemaking Academy Copenhagen

Overview

One day of intensive feminist urbanism learnings on how we design, experience, and govern cities.

We are proud to partner with Dreamtown in Copenhagen for the Feminist Placemaking Academy. On time!! Copenhagen is internationally recognised as one of the world's most liveable cities, consistently ranking at the top of global liveability indices.

The academy in Copenhagen is a one-day immersive learning programme that explores how feminist urbanism can transform the way we design, experience, and govern cities. Combining theory with hands-on practice, the Academy equips participants with practical tools to create safer, more inclusive, and equitable public spaces.

Through lectures, field visits, emotional mapping, gender audits, participatory walks, and co-design workshops, participants learn how to observe the city through the lens of lived experience. The programme introduces methodologies developed by The Gendered City, including the Gendered City Index, enabling participants to identify spatial inequalities and translate community experiences into evidence-based design recommendations.

The Academy brings together planners, architects, designers, researchers, policymakers, and community leaders to rethink public space from the perspective of care, accessibility, safety, mobility, climate resilience, and social inclusion. By the end of the programme, participants gain practical skills and frameworks they can apply in their own cities to design places that work better for everyone.
