Gypsy flamenco from the heart of Seville
Seville based flamenco dancer María “La Serrana” learnt from the best. She has been Farruquito’s student for over 8 years and also studied with Matilde Coral, Manuela Carrasco, Antonio Canales and some of the modern flamenco dancers of the moment. Now she is a well-known and respected dancer in the Sevillian flamenco scene and dances daily in her own tablao: Esencia. Since 2004 she is the director of her own flamenco company with which she performs worldwide. She has produced, choreographed and starred in 8 productions.
Los Hombros de Hércules (the shoulders of Hercules) is both an ode to the maestros who went before her, as to the singers she brings with her. Juan José Amador and Pepe de Pura belong to the leading group of flamenco singers at the moment. The group is accompanied by the strong and rhythmical guitarist Luis Amador. Los Hombros de Hércules is also starring gypsy dancer Antonio Moreno “Polito” who is the cousin of maestro Farruquito, who grew up with the same style and has been performing with the family since he was 7 years old. We also invite a local special guest for this occasion, Maltese dancer Carolina Caruana who studied at the Fundación de Cristina Heeren, and since then comes back to Seville regularly to keep up with the latest techniques and styles. A unique and sizzling flamenco evening, up-close and personal which is not to be missed.

Los Hombros de Hércules is part of an international four week tour that starts in Paris and will travel afterwards to Belfast, Dublin, 7 shows in Holland, Ghent, Edinburgh, London, Valetta and New York. .
