This panel will focus on the role of the financial sector in financing critical minerals. The role of banks and investors is key in financing critical minerals production and processing. Where the financial sector goes today, the world goes tomorrow. Do banks and investors apply sufficient due diligence to foster responsible mining and processing of critical minerals? What role can the EU play in stimulating responsible mining without human rights abuses?Objectives:-Identify gaps and best practices among investors and banks policies vis a vis the critical mining sector-Identify key European Union Policies/regulations and industry standards for critical minerals and the financial sector: do they provide sufficient steer towards responsible mining and towards banks and investors in the mining sector?
