About this event

Business • Other

How can security incidents become opportunities for innovation?
How can compliance become product value users actually feel?
What does it take to turn a reactive security culture into a proactive one?

We’re excited to host a speaker from UWV’s Cyber Defence Center (CDC) at the KIN Center for Digitla Innovation. UWV operates at national scale:

  • Millions of citizens & companies served
  • Billions of log events processed per day
  • 60,000+ endpoints to protect

Its story goes beyond detection and response. True resilience means shifting left—fixing weaknesses earlier in the process. UWV (Dutch Benefits Agency) evolved from a SOC into a Cyber Defense Center where vulnerability management, detection engineering, and security testing work hand-in-hand.

More information:

Nicholas Fredriksz, Manager Security Testing at UWV’s Cyber Defence Center (CDC) will take us behind the scenes of one of the Netherlands’ most advanced cybersecurity operations.

With billions of log events processed daily and 60,000+ endpoints to manage, the CDC operates at the highest level of cybersecurity—what you might call the Champions League of security. But their work goes beyond detection and response. True resilience means shifting left: identifying and fixing vulnerabilities earlier, before they can be exploited.

Nicholas will share how the CDC was founded, how it evolved from UWV’s Security Operations Center, and what daily operations look like for multidisciplinary teams working in vulnerability management, detection engineering, and security testing.

📅 When: 20 November, 17:15–19:00
📍 Where: OZW Building 10C05, VU Amsterdam

A unique chance to see cybersecurity at national scale—millions of citizens and companies served, billions of log events processed, and teams collaborating to prevent incidents before they happen.

We’ll wrap up the KINTalk with networking, snacks, and drinks—because the best ideas often start over good conversations (and free drinks and snacks!).
