Furniture manufacturer and chair collector Titus Darley talks about his passion for chairs. The Rietveld chair in his childhood bedroom eventually led to the successful collaboration with HAY for the Crate Series, which is being further expanded this year.
His limitless love for the chair is also reflected in the brand new RSGA Design Museum that opened its doors in Culemborg last March.
Gerrit Rietveld designed the Crate furniture 10 years after his famous Rietveld Schröder House. He was ahead of his time by using the leftover material from transport crates to build designer furniture. Titus Darley will show in a presentation with lots of unique photo material how Rietveld's designs relate to his architecture and how HAY and Rietveld Originals came up with the new collection for the Crate Series.
